Dear Scale Customer,
The USPS approved a new rate case effective May 14th 2007. The new rate case will significantly change the way you process your mail due to a new initiative called Shape-Based Pricing. Under SBP, each piece of mail sent via USPS must adhere to a new set of strict guidelines.
The guidelines to become Shape-Based Compliant are determined by the shape of the package, as well as the weight. New package classification types include a letter, flat and parcel.
In an effort to provide the highest level of customer service, Big Dog Mailing Products and Francotyp Postalia have partnered together to develop an Official SBP Rate Case Kit. As a customer it’s important to understand that the new rate case is more than just the first ounce of mail going up 2 cents. The majority of the new rate case is determined by the dimensional guidelines listed in the above paragraph. The Official SBP Rate Case Kit will be a valuable tool in making your mailroom as efficient as possible by providing the following:
• New Rate Chip/Card
• Rate Chip/Card Installation Guide
• All Pertinent Manuals and References Guides
• Adhesive Scale Overlay
• SBP Rate Calculating Tool
You will need to order your Official SBP Rate Change Kit on or before April 27th 2007 to guaranty delivery on or before May 14th 2007. The
next page contains pictures and model #’s of the various scales involved in this rate case change.
Take a minute, look at your current scale, match up the picture and model # and select the order form next to the scale you have. The model # of the scale will appear on the front or back of your scale.

In an effort to process a large number of orders, it’s important to order on or before April 27th 2007. As soon as we receive the Official SBP Rate Change Kits, they will be shipped to you directly. When ordering the kits it’s important to fill out the form completely and with the correct scale model.
